Jeff Wall at the Chicago Art Institute

While all others were drinking beers and watching football on Sunday, I took the typical hangover day and tried to turn it into a productive day. With a casual late start, I took the Yeti and biked to the Art Institute to catch the last days of the Jeff Wall exhibit. Jeff Wall should be one of those people that all artist would have dinner with if poised with the question of, If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? The dude sees life through his own lens.

It was one of those Urban Days that continues to entrance me. I guess that I am still used to living out west, where culture is one dimensional. City days are full of strange happenings and peculiar people. In front of the museum, there was a group of protesters calling for the impeachment of George W. To the conventional by passer, they can be a nuisance, but one would be amazed at how many cars honked their horns in transit while prompted by a 58 year old lady holding a sign that spouted, “Honk to Impeach.” There is something to be said about that.

All in all, the photos that Jeff Wall puts in his pocket are amazing and it is inspirational to see how art can come in any form and capture any style of emotion.
