New England turkey time

I had the pleasure of traveling home this past week for the holiday. It is always special to be able to spend time with family and old friends. The week was packed with occasions. “Big Wednesday” was the first event. The bar scene on Wednesday night made it nearly impossible to hold a full conversation. It is like status check night. “How ya doin? what are you doin? what’s been happenin?”

On Thanksgiving the Gulottas all participated in the Turkey Trot. As the fastest Gulotta, I have to say that its hard work to keep my body so toned. The results, I was still beaten by my fierce competitors, Tyler Silvestro and fellow Fairfieild Prep Freshman basketball Bench star, Brian Schnurr.

The following day, my father and I sailed in the annual Thanksgiving Regatta on the Long Island Sound. This was a cold and windy day, full of gusto winds that were making me feel like a capsize could have occurred. The biggest ordeal of the day was our mishap with the spinnaker. We failed to launch it fast enough and it got sucked into the water. Nevertheless, we recovered and won the race.

Saturday was the annual Turkey bowl. It is held every year at Riverfield School. All old Fairfield Prep Alumni compete for bragging rights throughout the rest of the year. Mixed with a keg of beer and some Pauly dogs and my body still has muscles in pain.  Props go to this year’s MVP Sean Gleason.
On Sunday, My father and I went to our First NY Giants football game at Giants Stadium. We tailgated for a little bit with some of the Fairfield crew and sat in the third row on the 40 yard line. I could have hit Eli in the head with a peanut after every interception that he threw. The stadium cleared out at the end of the third quarter after the game was inevitably over. To witness the mistakes of the Giants teenage quarterback click here. The Giants will have the ability to make it up to me this week as I will be attending the Bears/Giants game at Soldier Field. My third NFL game and first trip to Soldier.
