Italia

Italy… the family took a vacation to Italy a few weeks ago. It was a great excursion to the alps of Europe. We stay and skied in the areas around Sestriere. The 2006 Winter Olympics held their Men’s and Women’s Downhill there and the bobsled and other gravitational events were just around the corner at another resort that connected via lifts in Cesana. We were actually fortunate to go to this same area in 2001. A lot had changed with the Olympics and the planning around them.

It hadn’t snowed in Sestriere in probably over a month and it didn’t seem like there was any snow on its way. It seemed like Spring skiing. While all of my other friends have been hounded by series of snow storms in the West, it was a little difficult at first to accept these conditions. However, the company and crew that came along for the adventure made the trip all the more better. There were about 7 families on the trip. All of us had been closer in our younger days, so it was great to actually reconnect with some good old friends.

At this point, I would normally bombard you all with a gallery of photos from the chaletss and slopes of France and Italy, however, my camera was stolen from the discotheque. My father was always right when he told me that nothing good happens after midnight. Regardless, I am sure that I will get some pics passed my way sooner or later to share. This trip was a classic family vacation and I am grateful to have been able to share it with those that were on the trip.
